Season In - Season Out
Not too many years ago, in late November, you would have heard the ice cream freezer on the front porch. Yes, the freezer was already packed away in the basement, but an unusually warm day and a natural craving brought it out. Surprisingly, it was Mr. Bill, whose feet are always cold and shivers at the sight of a popsicle, was the one who suggested ice cream. I don’t recall any stutter-steps from anyone!
God's Truth is in-season … season-in and season-out! The culture we live in makes me crazy; I stay confused about what’s in, cool, and acceptable. My boys are generally the gauge of how trendy I am or am not. How thankful I am, however, what is holy and honorable according to God remains unchanged. His Truth has stood strong throughout time. Our faithfulness to God’s Truth isn’t always steady: we tend to embrace It more in lean times than plenty. Nonetheless, His Truth is solid and steadfast. “Forever, O LORD, Your Word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” (Psalm 119:89). At this house, we determined homemade ice cream is never out-of-season – so is the Word of God. Seasons change, but God's Word is for all seasons ... season in and season out.
