Comprehend the Incomprehensible

My years in property and casualty insurance bear many stories but perhaps the one most common was the question, "how much is insurance on a Oldsmobile Cutlass?" As if there was a one-size-fits-all answer, I always wanted to respond [but kindly did not,] "how long's a piece of rope?"  A. W. Tozer wrote, "True religion confronts earth with heaven and brings eternity to bear upon time." When given a glimpse of The Heavenly, there seems only to be rightful reverence: Abraham "fell on his face" before God (Genesis 17:3); Joshua "fell on his face" before Commanded of the Lord's army (Joshua 5:14); John "fell ... as though dead" before the Lord (Revelation 1:17). No words nor language were there, only humble acknowledgement of The Most High Sovereign. As Believers, how do we know such Greatness? I suggest the key is this: "The people who know their God will display strength and take action." (Daniel 11:32).  This verse doesn't say those baptized or who go to church or call themselves Believers. No, it speaks of the spiritually mature - those who know God - His goodness, love, kindness, holiness, gentleness, justice, etc. Can we really know God? Oh, yes, we can! He has revealed Who He IS in Scripture and through the life of His Son, Jesus. This is how we rightly comprehend the incomprehensible!
