Nothing More

The phrase "beat the odds" should be cause to pause, to think long-and-hard about what we're about to do! It must have been somewhat daunting when Joshua stood on the edge of God's promised land to the Hebrews. As the nation's new leader, Joshua's small inexperienced army of were headed for a face-off with Canaan's large army of seasoned warriors known for their brutality! It could be said the odds were not in Joshua's favor! So, there Joshua stood - here's what God said to him: "No one will be able to oppose you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not desert you nor abandon you." (Joshua 1:5, NASB). I'm sure we all have Joshua-moments when - by the world's standards - the odds don't seem favorable. Nonetheless, when we choose, without hesitation or reservation, to trust The One Who spoke to Joshua, it's no gamble, not moving forward on a wing and a prayer, nor hoping for the best outcome ... to "beat the odds." Whatever the circumstance or situation, God is altogether all we need. Truly, we need ... nothing more.
