The Way of Life

How absurd is it to even think of sitting down in center of a busy highway!  Nonetheless, that is exactly what many people do – by choice – in their spiritual lives.  Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”  That Hebrew word “right” means pleasing.  Now, what part of pleasing fits that seat in a busy highway?  To anyone otherwise coherent, the Way of Life – as given in God’s Word – is the spiritual choice.  Oh, if it were so!  “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” (Psalm 1:1). Though there are countless others, these three verses alone state the great principle of acknowledging, honoring, and obeying God alone – giving credence to none other!  The highway of life is busy and its traffic deadly: if Christ be honored, we will not embrace another other than  the One God – Jehovah, His Son – Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.  Amen and amen - so be it, Lord!
