Avoid the Traps

Did you ever have a wooden rabbit box? Dad helped me set mine up in the back yard; Mom provided the lettuce as bait then every morning I looked out the window to see if the door was closed. Finally, one morning the door was shut - it worked; I had trapped a rabbit!  I raced to the box only to discover it wasn't a rabbit at all - it was a possum! What an unwelcome guest! The  compromise of Godly principles cause the [otherwise] "wise" to falter.  Think about it: lean a little here, waver a little there, bend this way and that - soon right and wrong seems a little fuzzy. Satan say, "cme on, be reasonable, times are a'changin'," Soon, our spiritual eyes are weak-dim, discernment is poor, and our conscience is distorted. You don't believe it? Think about the things that used to make people blush - why, no one even blushes anymore! No, these things now are labeled "entertainment." Satan's aggression against good-right-wholesome-decent-honorable has dulled our spiritual wit and caused God's truths to be compromised within our own minds.  We've become trapped!  The only release I've found [personally] from these trappings is a spiritually aggressive offense. Actually, it's the only hope one has to remain free! "Incline your ear and hear the words of the Wise, and apply your heart to My knowledge; for it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; let them all be fixed upon your lips, so that your trust may be in the Lord; I have instructed you today, even you." (Proverbs 22:17-19). Like my rabbit box, traps sometimes catch the most unsuspecting victims.  Well, Dad released the possum; I imagine ole possum had quite a story to tell about the danger of lettuce! Be wise: open God's Word, read His wise words. faithfully apply God's principles to life. Avoid the traps!
