Blended in Him

My Mom made the best chocolate syrup! That warm syrup took homemade ice cream to a whole new level! Personally, I preferred not to stir-in the chocolate; I was content to let it just puddle around the edges of the ice cream; others, however, liked to blend the syrup and ice cream giving it the look of chocolate ice cream. Can you imagine what our lives would look like if our will was one with God's? F. W. Faber wrote, "There are no disappointments to those whose wills are buried in the will of God." For most Believers, our own agendas are so intense we forget there is a higher call on our lives. In His prayer to The Father, Jesus said, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10, ESV). Oh, how we withhold the beauty and joy of God's kingdom when we insist on our own way. A living-out of His purpose and will, however, will look a lot like that rich blend of syrup and cream - no distinct beginning nor ending of Christ in us. There should be a perfect spiritual blend -- His Will taken over our own. O Father, give us a vision of Who You are and what You long to do in us then supply all the grace we need to live it out ... blended in Him.
