The Mighty Meek

Mighty Mouse – he was far from "meek as a mouse."  Underdog – he was certainly more than " ... just little ole me."  Come to think of it, most super heroes of days-gone-by were meek in character!

Jesus said in Matthew 5:5, "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth."  Somehow the world has convinced us we cannot be happy if we are meek.  By nature (sinful nature), we are anything but meek.  David Jeremiah describes meekness as "the grace that brings strength and gentleness together."  Truth is, meekness comes only to those who live in captivity … unto Christ!  Yes, true meekness is made possible when our spirits are harnessed by The Master.  Picture a fine horse broken by his master, under his master's control, guided and directed by the bit, the bridle, the reins; his every move directed.  Meekness happens when we surrender that which we cannot control (the flesh) to The One who can control – the ultimate exercise in submission!  Don't let anyone convince you meekness is a pathetically weak state of being.  Not so! Spiritual meekness is Might in Its best form!  Yes, indeed -- happy are the Mighty Meek!
