Speak, Lord

There are times when it seems we have a target on us - when everything crashes in on us simultaneously. We're wise to acknowledge God speaks in many ways, and one of those ways is through our circumstances. Personally, I've learned to ask in the trying times, "Lord, what are you teaching me?" God spoke to Isaiah with "mighty power." (Isaiah 8:11). We know, too, God spoke to young Samuel in the still of night.  However and whenever God speaks, He has something important to say. Oswald Chambers poses, "Do we discern His hand at work, or do we see things as mere occurrences?" In stormy times - as at all times - it is best to make a habit of saying to God as Samuel did, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." (1 Samuel 3:10). God definitely has something to say to those who listen.
