Sick With Love

Although Mister Bill and I no longer have a pet, we remember the days when there was a puppy making our every step - following us around - like a "love-sick puppy." Solomon described himself as being being "sick with love" for his beloved. (Song of Solomon 5:8). There is a sickness of the soul satisfied only by The Savior! It is the deep calling-out for The One Whose deepest riches rescue, forgive and heal. By my own experience I conclude my own lack of sickness for Jesus at times. The psalmist wrote "But for me it is good to be near God" (Psalm 73:28); it seems he had discovered the key to spiritual health. Solomon writes some of the most beautiful words in Scripture: "I found Him Whom my soul loves." (Song of Solomon 3:4). I suppose I've been described [by some] as a "love-sick puppy" myself but may I ever be sick with love for my Jesus.
