Trust The Shepherd

The extent of my gardening is the planting of a few flowering perennials in outdoor pots. Bless their withering sprigs, the poor things must depend on me for water! Believers are assured of their care and keeping: "He will tend His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; He will carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young." (Isaiah 40:11). It's the shepherd in whom the sheep depend and trust to lead them, find water and food, care for their wounds, keep them safe and provide rest from their weariness. Jesus said, "I am The Good Shepherd." (John 10:11). Life as we know it makes weary every soul! Oh, how wonderful to have The Shepherd and know with full assurance He does what a shepherd does - cares for every need of every Believer. "The LORD is my Shepherd - I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1) - what simple yet clear words to settle the soul of every trusting lamb. The days of our lives do indeed wither [as the grass] and fade [as the flowers] (from Isaiah 40:6, 7, 8), but for those who trust completely in The Shepherd, we do not wither! Trust The Shepherd!
