Though All and Through All
We like things we can count-on, right! No ifs-and-buts, thick-or-thin, high-or-low, day-or-night ... count on it! Unfortunately, there are few of those count-on-it things in this life. The psalmist says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. (Psalm 46:1-3, NASB). God is THE count-on-it refuge and strength and present help ... come what may! Even "though" ... even "though" ... even "though" ... even "though," the writer says repeatedly. How many "even thoughs" can we name - times when your heart was fearful, when your world's core seemed to be crumbling and slipping away, when waters roared and foamed, when the mountains shook you to your core? Those things happen - they are part of life here YET we have a God Who makes wars to cease to the end of the earth - Who breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two - Who burns the chariots with fire (46:9). Oh, let us cease striving and know that He is God (46:10). He is The One who never sleeps nor slumbers - He is The God ... though all and through all.
