Standing Shoes

It was one of those catchy, toe-tapping fun tunes of the 70's - Tanya Tucker's "Walking Shoes." We all know that shoes matter! Effectively walking with Jesus, however, demands more ... standing shoes. In describing the full armor of God, Paul wrote in Ephesians 6, "Stand therefore ... having fastened on ... as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace" (V.14-15). When we hear-accept-apply The Gospel of Christ, we are given peace with God and receive His full assurance and power to not just walk victoriously but ... stand firm. Have you noticed the evil of these days? We may find safety tucked away in our homes, but let's not be lulled into the notion we are safe from Satan - no! our hearts, minds, spirits are not in great peril! "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." (Ephesians 6:12-13, ESV). Go ahead, put on your finest shoes for the day but do not neglect to arm yourself with Him Who supplies your ... standing shoes.
