Boast In Him

For sure we've witnessed things during our lives that seemed virtually impossible. I never imagined, aside from Dick Tracey, I'd see people talking to their watches! Jehovah God majors in things thought to be both improbable and impossible. The angel said to Mary, "For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment." (Luke 1:37, AMP). Mary had just received news that would prove not only scandalous but unlikely and physiologically impossible. We humans dearly love to boast of our grand accomplishments. Now, remember King Nebuchadnezzar: "Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?" (Daniel 4:30, ESV). God corrected that high and lofty attitude "while the words were still in the king's mouth" (V.31-33). When we boast, let us do so rightly: "Thus says the Lord: 'Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord Who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight,' declares the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:23-24, ESV). God [alone] is The One Who brings about the impossible and the improbable; in Him alone do we boast. Mary humbly submitted to be used of God to bring to mankind our greatest boast: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9, ESV). Oh, what a reason to exalt Jesus - feel free to boast in Him!
