The Great Exchange
Have you ever traded baseball cards or doll clothes? The object is to "trade up" or at the very least for something of interest. What about the greatest exchange ever - the innocent for the guilty - my sin for Christ's righteousness! If ever there was reason to be grateful, to rejoice at such a lopsided trade, this is it. Yet, there it is. The Trade of all trades securing for lost souls eternal debt-forgiveness. The Father could give nothing better, nothing more than His own Son. Have you really grasped the greatness of this truth? We are indeed grateful for tangible blessings - food, shelter, friends, family, church, etc. We must not neglect to be thankful for the eternally intangible things, however. The Puritan prayed this: "What is left, O Lord, but to spend the rest of my days loving, praising, and admiring you?" (Robert Alleine, Piercing Heaven). Two hands to raise - Two lips to praise - One life to live - One heart to give, forever grateful for ... the Great Exchange.
