Spiritual Income
Establishing a practical budget can be tricky. One key principle will always apply: expenditures must not exceed income. Proverbs 18:15 says, "An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." Many Believers live spiritually frivolous - carefree, shallow, senseless, thoughtless. In other words, there's lots more going-out than coming-in. God says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15, ESV). When we don't drink enough water, we become dehydrated, and before long our body begins to show signs of it. When we fail to pour Truth into our lives through worship and study and meditation and application - acquiring and seeking knowledge - the results render bad choices, unseemly behavior, ungodly attitudes and thought patterns. Our hearts, the continuous outgoing spring of life, are spiritually starving and even wasting away for lack of Truth! What are you pouring into your heart? Be wise and consider your ... spiritual income.
