Live Dependently
Somewhat unconsciously as children and teenagers, our parents taught us the benefit of growing into independence. That is, being able to depend on them less and less. This is not so with The Father. It was never the Creator’s intent that man live independently of Him. Shortly before His death, Jesus prayed: “That they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee …” (John 17:21). Do any of us dare imagine God would fail to hear and answer the pray of His Son! While we may hum the happy tune “I Did It My Way,” most surely we resist God having His Way in our lives. When we refuse to say with brokenness, “Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10), we shake off the oneness with The Father and Son. There is no oneness in living independently from Christ. The best decision we can make today is to die to self – live dependently with Christ!
