Gift Yourself

On or near my desk where I write each day is a prayer plaque, a figurine, a small friendship  book, a block of Parallam®, a handcrafted card; and, I can tell you exactly who gifted me with each item.  Each item represents someone who has poured her life into mine.  Proverbs 18:16 says, “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.”  The sharing of gifts – a card, a phone call, an email, a casserole, a text, a hug, a prayer, your time – has great potential to lift a burden, heal a wound, encourage a heart, or cement a relationship.  The act of giving is a powerful way to show someone you care, and to extend the Greatest Gift of all – God’s only Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and dearest Friend. A moment poured out into another life is a moment well-spent.  To whom will you gift yourself today?
