Drink Deeply

Watching “hummingbird wars” this morning, two thirsty birds were constantly harassed even body-slammed by a third bird!  It’s sad how many Believers seem more interested in just hanging around rather than partaking of what Christ offers.  The psalmist wrote, “For with You is the Fountain of Life.” (Psalm 36:9). To see a fountain in mid-day heat is one thing – to drink from and be refreshed by it is altogether different.  Even in fear of body-slams, those thirsty little birds kept returning to the sweet nectar.  Why?  Because they had tasted of its richness!  “Hope deferred makes the heart sick; a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12).  Oh, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16). Have you deeply tasted of a rich-abundant-fulfilling-sustaining relationship of Jesus Christ?  There’s no deeper or sweeter or thirst-satisfying One … drink deeply!
