Get Real

The younger me recalls the phrase "get real" used to call someone to look at things realistically. What I see-hear-read today makes me question this culture's sense of reality! Scripture remind Believers there is really only one way to confidently know reality: "A natural man does not accept the things of The Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1 Corinthians 2:14). The natural man (non-Believer) is at great disadvantage because he sees and hears without the ability to discern (examine, interpret). There is also great danger, however, for Believers who neglects to acknowledge the spiritual realm with its powerful and threatening forces. "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ... the spiritual forces of evil." (Ephesians 6:12). Ultimately, Believers must be alert and firmly centered in Real Truth: "For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12). Yes, I do encourage Believers to "get real," based solely in Real Reality as discovered and discerned according to Real Truth. Get real!
