Skip #1

If you've ever been "skipped over," you know it didn't feel so great. In the numbering of things, it's natural to count ourselves as #1. God said, "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." (Philippians 2:3). That's not natural but it is spiritual! Albeit slightly, denying ourselves of anything is usually painful. Plainly, however, Believers are to live in such a way to promote the good of others rather than our own [good]. Romans 12:10 - "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor." This is not the scheme-of-things according to today's culture; no, it's quite the contrary. If we are to live according to The Word of God and display lives resembling that of Jesus Christ, we will sacrificially and obediently count others first, before ourselves ... yes, skip #1.
