God's Good Favor
Given a choice, this ole gal won't be seated in a corner booth: many years ago, a waiter rounded the corner and dumped a tossed salad on top of my head! God's Word says, "Blessings are on the head of the righteous [the upright, those in right standing with God]." (Proverbs 10:6, AMP). To be 'blessed" of God is to experience His favor; the Hebrew word carries the concept of a "salute or adoration." I'm sure I've been guilty of making choices which God did not (nor could He) deem favorable because they do not fall into the realm of "righteous." An otherwise popular and acceptable thought today is that God blinks-and-winks at little things. Here's The Truth: "all wrongdoing is sin" (1 John 5:17) and "whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." (James 4:17). How foolish when we save our obedience for the big things! I admit, that salad didn't seem like much of a blessing; in contrast what a crown of blessed joy and peace when our daily walk is one of faithful and diligent obedience to Christ. Walk in righteousness and know ... God's good favor!
