Sure Walk
A penny for your thoughts could be a bargain, or it could be a waste of a good penny! The same could be said of the life of one who claims to be a disciple of Jesus. There was no question to what Jesus described as evidence of a true disciple: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." (John 14:15, ESV). Words are wonderful and a sure way of communication, however, our words can be cheap ... actually, not worth even a penny! Let me suggest, it is what we do that speaks loudest and often leaves the greatest indentions. Every morning, I slide my feet into a pair of shoes; funny, how neither one of those shoes make one step without the foot that guides it. It is the heart of each follower of Jesus that will devote the body to obedience or disobedience; there's no in-between. Anne Bradstreet wrote, "A humble, faithful life, O Lord - Forever let me walk - Let my obedience testify - My praise lies not in talk." (Piercing Heaven). The best praise a disciple of Christ can offer is obedience. It's a ... sure walk.
