The Weaver

The times of our lives have been described as a weaving, and how silly when we believe it's us doing the weaving. I'm reminded of several in Scripture but particularly Rahab. An Old Testament woman caught up in a life of prostitution and paganism, God moved in her heart to so that she made this bold statement of faith [to the two Hebrew spies]: "the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth below" (Joshua 2:11 NASB). Little did Rahab know the full scope of how God was "weaving" her into His plan of salvation for mankind. "The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah ... Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab" (Matthew 1:5 NASB). Rahab's courageous actions became the evidence of her faith in God Who included her in something greater than her own hopes and dreams and plans. Make no mistake: it is never me nor you doing the weaving but [rather] The Master Weaver. Enjoy this "borrowed blessing."

"The Tapestry" by Corrie ten Boom
My life is but a weaving - Between my God and me
I cannot choose the colors - He weaveth steadily
Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow - And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper - And I the underside
Not ’til the loom is silent - And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas - And reveal the reason why
The dark threads are as needful - In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver - In the pattern He has planned
He knows, He loves, He cares - Nothing this truth can dim
He gives the very best to those - Who leave the choice to Him
