Read the Word

Looking back, I don't remember being much of a reader as a child. As an adult, however, it seems I'm always reading. Every Believer should be a reader!  One of my favorite passages in Scripture is from the Book of Nehemiah when Ezra read the Word of God to the people: "And Ezra opened the Book in the sight of all the people ... and as he opened it the people stood ... and Ezra blessed the LORD the great God, and all the people answered, 'Amen, Amen,' lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground ... they read from the Book, from the Law of God ... the people understood the reading." (from Nehemiah 8:5-8). What a sweet sight that must have been! Even so, consider what we hold in our hands today: God's Word with Its Author present! Oh, Christian friend, do not miss the incredible opportunities for blessing: be a reader of The Word!
