Unmasked

Year 2020 could well be labeled "The Year of the Mask." One thing for certain: they help hide a scowl or displeasure. I suppose we forget we've been masking all our lives! The Puritan prayed, "Unmask to me sin's deformity, that I may hate it, abhor it, flee from it." It's really pretty easy to hide who we really are ... that is, except from El Roi - The One Who Sees Me. When choosing His king for His people, God said to Samuel: "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7). The next time you put on a mask (or not), remember we are completely unmasked before The Lord - nothing is hidden from Him. Let us live each day Coram Deo, Latin for "in the presence of God." Unmasked!
