Perfect Cast
Fishing is Mister Bill's thing - not mine. That established, I have held a fishing rod a few times and I concluded that "casting" is the best part. The psalmist wrote, "Cast your burden on the LORD." (Psalm 55:22). That which has been given you - the care, concern, anxiety that weighs you down - hurl it, throw it, fling it to The Lord. The Hebrew word goes a step further: cast it off, shed it, throw it away! Unlike the sinker and lure at the end of a fishing line, which is cast then reeled back in, those who genuinely trust in The Lord and His certain promises are commanded to give-up their burdens and not take them back. The psalmist continues, "He [The LORD] will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved."What a precious promise we are given when we totally surrender our burdens - "casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you." (1 Peter5:7). Onto Him is the ... Perfect Cast.
