Let Go

There’s an old saying that a snapping turtle won’t let go until the sun goes down. Myth or not, I’m not anxious to find out!  As Believers, we are to faithfully pray for and bear certain burdens in our own lives and in the lives of others.  We are not, however, to be so obsessed with matters that we worry or become anxious.  When we do – and we ALL do at times – it is a real lack of trust in Christ Who tells us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).  Do you know most eagle deaths occur because of drowning?  This magnificent and powerful and intelligent bird will snatch a fish or animal that is too heavy; the weight overcomes the eagle and pulls it to its death.  Sadly, this is the same story for many Believers who refuse to let go of heavy burdens we are not designed nor commanded to bear. Jesus said, “Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30). Easy and light – doesn’t that sound nice? It’s ours for the taking: just let go!
